Why It Isn’t Working (Even When You’re Doing the Class)

So why isn’t it working?

Because no one is paying attention to how you’re doing it. They’re telling you what to do, and you’re following it, but the way your body is organized inside the movement is being missed. Alignment is personal, and it matters.

Two people can do the same exercise and have completely different results based on how they are placed, what is supporting them, and what is no quite online. If that’s not being seen and adjusted, then the movement doesn’t have it’s intended effect.

You can go deeper, move faster, push harder, and still not build strength in the right places. This usually leads to injuries.

That idea that you need to keep going further, faster is what keeps people stuck and in pain. You move into positions your body can’t support yet, so instead of building strength, you hang in your joints, you overuse your ligaments, and you rely on mobility instead of control. Overtime, this looks like chronic shoulder, knee, hip, and back pain.

From the outside, it looks like you’re doing more, inside the body, there’s no foundation to build on.

So you stay in the same place, even though it feels like you are working so hard.

At Haia, the focus is on that level of detail, we pay attention to how you’re placed, how you’re moving, and what your body is doing inside the exercise. If you don’t have the strength for something yet, you’re not pushed past it. You’re taught how to work at your level so you can build it.

That’s what creates change, here is the invitation to do less pushing and more learning, once that foundation is there, everything starts to fall into place.
